Overview
Cortisone (17-hydroxy-11-dehydrocorticosterone) is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands located above the kidney. It is the inactive precursor molecule of the active hormone cortisol. Cortisone is released in response to stress and has anti-inflammatory properties. In medicine, it is used for the treatment of arthritis and allergies.
