Collagen type II kit for the detection of collagen type II in tissues or cells via immunoblotting or immunohistochemistry.

Overview

Overview:

The collagen molcule is a unique structure composed of 3 alpha chains that form a triple helical structure.
There are 26 unique type of collagen all with a unique amino acid sequence that causes the structure to
be stable, highly resistant to proteolytic degradation, heat, and chemicals. Since the different collagen
molecules are similar in structure and amino acid sequence, it is very difficult to identify them by ordinary
chemical or histological evaluations. To aid with that, this staining kit provides a cocktail of monoclonal
antibodies for type II collagen. The epitope specificity of this antibody cocktail allows for immunoblotting or
immunostaining of collagen type II in tissue.

The type II collagen staining kit was used in immunocytochemistry analysis to detect collagen type II expression in chondrocytes in primary culture. Cells were fixed with 4% formaldehyde in phosphate-buffered saline for 30 minutes at 4°C.
