Elastin polyclonal antibody (guinea pig anti-human) purified from a guinea pig injected with elastin that was purified/extracted from human skin.

Overview

Overview:

The ELN gene located on chromosome 7 encodes elastin. Elastin is a major protein component of elastic fibers and it is found in the extracellular matrix of connective tissue where it provides support to organs and tissues, such as the skin, lung, aorta, Achilles tendon and liver. The main characteristics of elastin are its ability to stretch and recoil. This is possible because of its hydrophobic properties, which allow elastin molecules to slide across one another. The two amino acids specific to elastin are desmosine and isodesmosine. Mutations of the ELN gene are associated with cutis laxa, Williams syndrome and supervalvular aortic stenosis.
