Affinity chromatography purified rabbit antibody to rat type IV collagen extracted, purified from rodent tumor tissues.
Overview
Type IV collagen (CIV) is a major structural component of the basal lamina that assembles as a sheetlike network in the underlying extracellular space of all epithelial cells and tubes. The basal lamina separates the epithelia from the underlying connective tissue. There are several different isoforms of type IV collagen, but all are composed in a triple helical structure. The different isoforms are synthesized from six genes: COL4A1, COL4A2, COL4A3, COL4A4, COL4A5 and COL4A6. Type 1V collagens are considerably more flexible than the fibrillar type collagens. Mutations in genes associated with type IV collagen are associated with Alport and Goodpasture syndrome.

How To Use
For the immunostaining of extra or intracellular components in light microscopy and the quantitation of rat type IV collagen in biological fluids or culture supernatants.
Applications
- IFA
- IHC(p)
- (SP) RIA
- ELISA
Working Dilutions
- IFA (with fluorescein anti-rabbit IgG conjugate): use diluted at >1:80 on frozen rat tissues (skin, liver...)
- IHC(p): use diluted at ≥ 1:500 on fixed, paraffin-embedded rat tissues (skin, liver....)
- ELISA: use diluted at ≥ 1:200 (OD > 500).
