The human BEND-6 recombinant protein consists of a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 302 amino acids (1-279 aa).

BEN domain-containing protein 6 (BEND6) is a neural BEN-solo factor that functions similarly to the Drosophila co-repressor Insensitive. BEND6 binds to the mammalian CSL protein CBF1 and antagonizes Notch-dependent target activation. Its interaction with Notch- and CBF1-regulated enhancers is enhanced by CBF1 and inhibited by activated Notch. In utero electroporation experiments have shown that overexpression of BEND6 hinders Notch-mediated self-renewal of neocortical neural stem cells, thereby promoting neurogenesis.
